Events

If you've never been to an Olthoff Racing track event, what are you waiting for? Our events are non-competitive and are for YOU the owner to have the opportunity to understand and FEEL the way the car reacts in different situations.

A high powered short wheelbase car can be a real handful to a novice driver, and we put on these events to give you a safe environment in which to practice car control.

First, on day one, we have the drivers meeting in the pits to let everyone know how the event is run. Next we take ALL drivers around the roadcourse and stop and explain how to drive each corner, the braking point, the preferred line of entry and exit, the apex point, safe passing zones and entry and exit of pit road.

All first time event participants are then required to move to the skid pad. It's so much fun, many verteran event drivers return to the skid pad to "slide 'er around a few laps."

We set up a small figure 8 course and teach you how to drift the car throught the corners. This lets you experience the "weight transfer" that occurs as you enter and exit the corners on the roadcourse.

When you feel you've had enough time on the 8, head back over to the roadcourse and the next time your run group is called, stage your car on pit road and prepare to go on track.

The run groups are determined by experience and ability. If the group you are in is too fast or slow for your level of driving, we can adjust accordingly.

The main objective is to give you a safe and fun place to learn how to control your car. Plus the chance to hang out and share the experience with a great bunch of owners! I've never heard anyone complain about not having enough track time.

Back in June, Dennis participated in the Heacock Classic Gold Cup Historic Races held at Virginia Intl. Raceway. This SVRA event had some real heavy hitters! Our red and white GT40 was there for shake-down runs in preparation for the BIG GO NORTH to Elkhart Lake Wisconsin for the GT40 reunion. Running in group 5, Dennis finished a very respectable 8th position.

Remember, this car is rolling on treaded Avon tires not slicks- AND, if we were to put the belt back on, he can reach over and switch on the air conditioning!!! The crowd response and support was tremendous. Many very interested people took note of the performance and affordability of the Superformance GT40 as an avenue to continue to race a competitive nostalgic car, and not take the chance of possibly crashing and destroying an irreplaceable vintage race car.

Here are a few pics Paul Whitlock and David Brown shot at the event.
